INVISUS was started in 2001 by James Harrison (Jami), and Jeff Nichols as a computer security forensics company.

With simulated corporate computing environments, the company invited hackers from around the world to compete by hacking into the computers, playing hacking “games” for prizes and bragging rights in their circles of piers. The information gathered from these “games” was then used to better understand how the hacker underground worked and to develop better solutions to protect businesses and individuals from the growing threat of cyber-crime.

With a small team of security experts on hand for the development and launch of this breakthrough forensics project, INVISUS experienced handful of cyber-attacks of their own. In one 48 hour period, the company’s computers were probed and attacked over 350 times over the Internet by hackers in the United States and from all over the world including Russia and China.

It became painfully obvious that it would require hundreds of thousands of dollars in security hardware and software technologies to protect the project and the company from hackers whose goal was not to play the “game”, but to take down the company.

The light bulb went on. They discovered the biggest missing link in “protection for the digital age”. They experienced first hand how dangerous the Internet really is, but more importantly, they realized how vulnerable every small business, home and family is to hackers, Internet predators and identity thieves. And there was no “professional grade” solution that was simple and affordable for the masses.

This realization led the INVISUS team to an aggressive plan to become a world leader in protection for the digital age. The company started by introducing the industry’s first fully managed computer security
