Q: Why encrypt files?
A: Private information should stay private.  Nobody wants their personal records to fall into the wrong hands.  It is becoming easier and easier to intercept messages and files through email.  Sending documents in emails without encryption is like trying to have a private conversation with a friend while shouting across a room.

Thieves want what you are sending and storing.  Stealing identities is no longer swiping a wallet or dumpster diving.  They exploit computers and steal credit card information and other records - usually without the user knowing until it is too late.

Businesses are held responsible for mishandling customer information.  It is imperitvie for businesses to encrypt ALL customer information while it is stored on their computers or while in transit.  Huge fines and public humiliation will come to those who do not properly protect customer records.  All it takes is one stolen laptop.
