Configuring Email Clients

This section shows a worked example of manually adding a user e-mail account to be filtered. The first step is to go to the Email Settings screen in the INVISUS Anti-Virus V2.

Click on the Add button to go to the Add email account details screen.

Enter the new e-mail address and incoming (POP3) mail server address. If you are unsure of these or any other settings refer to your ISP or network administrator for assistance.
Press the Ok button and the new account will be added to your filtered e-mail list.

Note that the incoming port is set to 510 and the status is User Set rather than Auto set. Please make a note of the incoming port number as this is needed when configuring your e-mail package. You must press the OK button for the changes to be saved.

In this example a manual account will be added to Outlook Express. The process should be similar for other e-mail packages. In Outlook Express select the Tools menu and select the Accounts option.

Outlook Express will now display the Internet Accounts window. Press the Add button and select add mail account. This will start the Internet Connection Wizard.

Outlook Express will now take you through the Add Internet Connection Wizard. Add the display name of the account to be created and press the Next> button.

The next step is to add the e-mail address of the account that you wish to use with the INVISUS Anti-Virus V2. This will be the same name entered in the INVISUS Anti-Virus V2 software earlier in this example. Again press Next to continue.

The incoming POP3 server address should be set to 127.0.0.1. INVISUS uses this special address to filter your e-mails. The SMTP or outgoing mail server should be set to the appropriate address where you outgoing mail server is located. INVISUS products only filter incoming e-mail. Again press Next to continue.

Finally, enter the Account name and Password for the e-mail account you are configuring and press Next.

Congratulations you have now successfully set up your account using the Internet Connection Wizard. There is one more step to complete before Outlook Express will be filtered. Press finish to end this section of the configuration.

Select the newly added e-mail account and press the properties button on the right hand side of the window. This will show all the properties of your newly created account.

Select the Advanced tab to show the incoming and outgoing mail port numbers.

The Advanced tab is where the important incoming port number that was noted earlier on the e-mail settings window is to be stored. Enter the number, in this case 510, in the incoming mail (POP3) box as shown in the window below. Press the OK button to save your new settings.

Congratulations you have now manually set up a new e-mail user account which can be filtered by the INVISUS Anti-Virus V2.
